A dramatic video footage shows a cash van in South Africa escaping the site of an armed robbery, all thanks to the driver of the vehicle.

The video shows the moment a truck loaded with cash comes under heavy gunfire.

The driver succeeds in controlling the car while it is being attacked, after robbers open fire on it.

The window on the driver’s side is damaged, according to the video clip.
The driver also tells his colleague at the beginning of the chase, "They are following us."

He asks him to hold a large rifle that is with them in the truck.

It is also possible to hear the driver breathing heavily but he remains remarkably calm in the situation and manoeuvres the vehicle to flee the scene of the attack, takes a sharp right turn and says, “They will shoot. They will shoot."

Several bullets hit the car.

Shortly afterwards the driver pulls over, takes the rifle from his colleague, and exits the cabin to chase away the robbers.

At the end of the chase, the driver’s window is completely shattered.

The video was shared by Yusuf Abramjee, who runs Crime Stoppers International’s Twitter account.

He said the driver and his colleague survived the attack.
