The air ambulance at Aviation Department of the Abu Dhabi Police transported a critically wounded person to Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City in Abu Dhabi on Sunday.

The Aviation Department was alerted by the Command and Control Centre about two people who sustained wounds in a motorbike accident in the sandy area in Sweihan.

The seriously injured person was transported by the air ambulance, while the lightly injured one was transported by the ambulance.

The crew of paramedics provided the necessary medical care through the latest equipment and devices during their transport by helicopter.

In January 2021, the UAE National Search and Rescue Centre in coordination with Abu Dhabi Police carried out a medical evacuation mission for an injured citizen in the Liwa desert (Tal Mireb) in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.

The Abu Dhabi Police Operations Room received a report stating that there was a bicycle accident in the sandy areas of the Liwa desert.

One person was seriously injured and it was difficult to reach him because of the tough terrain.

The site was traced through the system by the operations room team of the National Search and Rescue Centre.

A helicopter with proper equipment was dispatched to the site.

The search and rescue team was able to airlift the injured person and transfer him to Madinat Zayed Hospital to receive the necessary treatment while ensuring that all precautionary and preventive measures related to the coronavirus were observed.

The authorities have urged members of the public to remain cautious and take key steps to avoid such accidents.

The hospital staff said the injured person was in a stable condition and would recover in due course of time.
