Prof. Platon Alexiou, Dean, College of Architecture, Art and Design said that great achievement reflects Ajman University’s commitment to innovation and creativity, wishing at the same time “All the best, and many more to come.”

Prof. Platon also extended his gratitude to student’s supervisors Lect. Gergely Csikvari (Zoha), Dr Rabah Saoud (Dana) and Head of Architecture Department Dr Jihad Awad.

“Both students managed to satisfy all the contest requirements and provide various solutions,” he said. “They tackled all design challenges in innovative and modern ways.”

“Zoha's designs impressed the arbitration committee, while Nada's curved shapes left them in awe as she perfectly connected the surrounding buildings in a functional and practical way with unusual shapes.”

Using the latest technologies, both students created spectacular contemporary designs for a centre at the Jumeirah heritage area perfectly linking the ancient past of the UAE and its present, he said.

“It was not an easy job to link the archaeological site without transgressing or tampering with the existing monuments.”

The P&T competition, held this year under the theme “Giving back to community”, provides an opportunity for future architects to present their talents and develop their careers.

It also places an emphasis on both theory and practicality in an attempt to solve real challenges. Entries are evaluated by a jury comprising highly experienced architects within P&T and guest professionals to ensure a fair and diverse perspective in the evaluation process.

The competition offers a never-to-miss opportunity to winners to begin their careers with P&T, a firm that is regarded as one of the leaders in architecture.
