The weather on Sunday is expected to be fair to partly cloudy, becoming cloudy at times over some western areas by night especially over the islands and sea. There may be some light rain, according to the National Centre for Meteorology (NCM).

“Moderate easterly to southeasterly winds, freshening at times blowing dust and sand, with a speed of 20–30, reaching 38km/hr. Waves will be slight to moderate in the Arabian Gulf and in Oman Sea,” the NCM added.

It continued, “The weather on Monday is expected to be dusty and partly cloudy to cloudy at times over some areas, especially eastern, western and coastal areas with a probability of some rainfall. Moderate southeasterly becoming northwesterly winds, freshening at times, blowing dust and sand with a speed of 20–30, reaching 40km/hr, are likely.”

It also indicated that the waves would be moderate to rough in the Arabian Gulf and moderate in the Sea of Oman.

On Tuesday, the weather is expected to be dusty and partly cloudy to cloudy at times over some areas especially western and northern, with a probability of some rainfall. Moderate northwesterly winds, freshening at times, blowing dust and sand that may affect the horizontal visibility over the exposed areas, with a speed of 20–30, reaching 42km/hr, were likely. The waves could be moderate, and might become rough at times in the Arabian Gulf and moderate in the Sea of Oman, the NCM added.

Earlier, the National Centre of Meteorology, NCM, revealed that it carried out 95 cloud seeding operations across the country in the first quarter of 2020, using a total of 2,171 flares produced by NCM’s Emirates Weather Enhancement Factory.

NCM’s cloud seeding operations demonstrate the importance placed by the UAE on providing sustainable water resources through encouraging research and innovation in water-related technologies.

With an average rainfall of 100 mm per year, the UAE is among global water stressed countries.
