His Highness Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, has conferred the ‘Order of the Mother of the Nation’ on His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan Bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, in recognition of Sheikh Sultan’s role in the humanitarian, community and cultural fields on the UAE level and the wider world.

The conferring, which is part of the fifth edition of the Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak Programme for Creativity and Social Excellence, is also in honour of Sheikh Sultan’s efforts, initiatives and pioneering works, which promote family and community stability.

It was also in addition to Sheikh Sultan’s interest to preserve the entity of society and its giving, which are inexhaustible in the service of humanity, and the focus on the human element as the basis of development, renaissance, building and progress.

Recently, Sheikh Sultan received an honorary doctorate from the Autonomous University of Madrid (Autonoma).

The honour was in recognition of Sheikh Sultan’s cultural efforts and scientific status in binding cultures together.

The Chief of Sharjah Police and his deputy and all employees of the Sharjah Police General Headquarters congratulated Sheikh Sultan on the honour. They appreciated the role played by him in enriching knowledge and culture of society.

The Sharjah Broadcasting Authority (SBA) has released a book titled “Calls from His Highness Ruler of Sharjah to Sharjah Radio’s Direct Line Programme rece.

The work presents a detailed seven-year account of the counsel, opinions and interventions offered by Sheikh Sultan from December 2011 – 17, during calls he made to Sharjah Radio’s Direct Line Programme aired on Sharjah Television and Radio.

Published by Al Qasimi Publications, the book presents the Sharjah Ruler’s strategic mindset and is an excellent reference for government departments, researchers and the media who are following up on the needs, suggestions and complaints of members of society. In addition to documenting the innovative solutions to community’s challenges and key advice His Highness offered to young Emiratis during these calls, the book is an exemplary and actionable model in management because many of Sheikh Sultan’s ideas and thoughts shared on the programme have become projects that were implemented and came to fruition exactly the way he described them.

In the first chapter, the book underscores the call of His Highness, in which he praises the initiative of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE to increase the salaries of citizens, and discusses other topics.

In the second chapter, the book documents the Sharjah Ruler’s opinions on various topics including housing problems, increasing the salaries of retired personnel, supporting teachers, in addition to interventions on Sharjah the Capital of Islamic Culture, the importance of supporting scientific research and strengthening family systems in society. Other comments include employment policies in Sharjah, desert plants and health insurance for the elderly.
