Emirates International Colorectal Congress discusses new options to boost healthcare in UAE

The 2nd edition of the Emirates International Colorectal Congress concluded in Abu Dhabi. The event witnessed a blend of informative presentations, compelling case studies, and engaging interactive sessions.

The Emirates Society of Colorectal Surgery (ESCRS), organised the event from Feb.24 to 25 at Conrad Abu Dhabi.

The two-day conference attracted participants from different countries to discuss a wide range of topics related to Robotic Surgery, Anastomotic Leaks and Stomas, Metastatic Colorectal Cancer, Proctology, Rectal Cancer and Stoma Care Programme.

The conference highlighted various educational methods in the field of Colorectal Surgery, including panel discussions with high-level international and regional speakers, refresher courses, workshops, and a rich scientific programme that allows professionals in academia and industry to learn about the latest research and rapid developments in Colorectal.

Dr Sara Al Bastak, President of ESCRS and Chair of the E-ICRC Congress, expressed her gratitude and excitement, stating, "We are thrilled to have hosted over 40 distinguished speakers from various countries, including representatives from international and regional colorectal societies. The E-ICRC serves as a vital platform for the exchange of knowledge, expertise, and experiences among leading physicians from around the globe."

Highlighting the significance of the congress, Dr Al Bastak added, "Our international congress in colorectal surgery stands in alignment with renowned gatherings worldwide, providing updates on colorectal surgeries and exploring new horizons in the field. Moreover, it serves as a pivotal international meeting point for physicians to convene in the UAE, fostering collaboration and advancing patient care."

The two-day congress featured a rich scientific programme and workshops tailored not only for surgeons but also for gastroenterologists, oncologists, clinicians, and nurses. On the first day, discussions centered around the latest advancements in Robotic Surgery, Sessions on Anastomotic Leaks and Stoma, Pelvic Floor, and Metastatic Colorectal Cancer further enriched the scientific dialogue.

The second day of the congress continued with sessions covering a diverse range of topics, including Abstracts, Proctology, Rectal Cancer, and Colorectal Cancer in the young. A joint session with the Emirates Society of Gastroenterology and emirates Society of Oncology addressing crucial aspects in colorectal diseases. 

The E-ICRC 2024 concluded with a sense of accomplishment, having provided a platform for comprehensive learning, networking, and collaboration among healthcare professionals dedicated to advancing colorectal care.
