Mathematics for many students can be a tough nut to crack. Getting around the numbers game can be a herculean task, and this was the Achilles heel of yours truly also. Though it isn't everyone's strong point, solving an 8-year-old’s maths homework should be a breeze, right?

Think again, this query can stump you. It certainly foxed the child, whose mother Dusty Sappington uploaded on Reddit.

The question was: “Janell had 15 marbles. She lost some of them. How many does Janell have now?”

Well, it turns out that no one could actually answer the question that was given to her daughter, Izzy.

Some Reddit users took a try but not a single soul could deliver a precise answer, highlighting just how stupid the query was.

Speaking to the Huffington Post, Dusty found the poser amusing.

She was not sure if it was a printing error or a query to “test her knowledge of less than and greater than, which she has touched on in the past," she remarked, according to the Independent.

However, this is not the first time she has come across such weird mathematical questions. Being the mother of a third-grader and a fifth-grader, she has seen a lot of homework that sent the family into fits of laughter, even as they scratched their heads, relying too much on Google, she said.
