Tourists explore Europe’s tallest sand dune, ‘Dune du Pilat,’ amid new coronavirus restrictions

People enjoy a sunny day atop Europe's tallest sand dune called "Dune du Pilat" in La Teste-de-Buch.

 

The sand dune which is also a famous tourist destination is located near the Arcachon Bay, France, 60 km southwest of Bordeaux.

As a nationwide partial lockdown was announced earlier in April, tourists try to make the most of the time they have at the destination.

 

New restrictions have come into force in France, where authorities are scrambling to deal with a dramatic rise in cases that has overwhelmed hospitals.

With more than one million visitors per year, the Dune of Pilat is famous not just for its height.

 

But for its large dimensions, its fascinating surroundings and the breathtaking views it offers.
