Ellie Goulding has revealed that fellow mums Katy Perry and Princess Eugenie have offered her valuable advice during her pregnancy.

Goulding, 34, is pregnant with her and husband Caspar Jopling’s first child, and is approaching her due date.

In an interview with The Telegraph, the singer revealed that Princess Eugenie and Katy Perry had given her some "excellent advice" including "where to find the best pregnancy pillows to get a good night’s sleep".

Speaking about her friendship with Eugenie, Goulding said: "She’s been a great friend throughout this. We’ve talked a lot about pregnancy and she’s been inspirational because she just takes everything in her stride."

The singer also spoke about her decision to keep her pregnancy a secret.

Goulding announced the news in an interview with Vogue magazine when she was seven months pregnant.

"I needed time to get my head around it," she said.

The star explained that she walked around in her husband’s big coats to "hide my bump". Once she and her partner moved into a new house together, the singer decided it was the right time to share the news.

She said: "It felt like we had these proper roots and it was the right moment to say something – I’d also just bought a new bath that I was very proud to show off in the photographs!"

During her Vogue interview, the singer opened up about the unplanned pregnancy.

The singer said she is “enjoying” being pregnant but admitted that she was in “denial” at first.

“It happens really quickly, and then you almost don’t believe it at first,” she said.

“You’re still eating the same, looking the same, for a while I was probably in denial.”

Goulding also spoke openly about the loneliness she had experienced being pregnant during the pandemic.

“You have your partner, and you have your friends, but in a pandemic, it can feel particularly lonely,” she said.

“Because it wasn’t something I had planned for right now, [and] I knew it was a more solitary journey because of what’s going on. I think that made me keep it very secretive and made me very protective over it.”
