The British writer Salman Rushdie, who was attacked in the United States in August, lost sight in one of his eyes and paralyzed his hand, as well as other injuries, according to what his agent indicated in a statement released to the media.

Literary agent Andrew Wylie said in an interview, "Rushdie lost sight in one of his eyes, and suffered three serious injuries to the neck.

He suffers from paralysis in one hand, because the nerves in his arm have been severed. He suffered about 15 injuries to the chest and torso.

His agent explained, "His injuries were very deep. The attack was brutal, but he will live."

On August 12, Rushdie was preparing to participate in a symposium in northern New York State, when someone stormed the stage and stabbed him several times, especially in the neck and abdomen.

As a result, Rushdie was transferred by helicopter to the hospital, where he was briefly connected to a respirator before his condition improved.

The arrested American of Lebanese origin, Hadi Matar (24 years), pleaded in court in Mayville, New York, to acquit him in a trial that held its first session in mid-August.
